Ioanna Antoniades

Post-Doctoral Fellow

Ioanna holds a PhD in Molecular Biology (University of Cyprus) during which she identified ciliary adhesions, which are complexes linking basal bodies to the cytoskeleton in multiciliated cells. As a post-doctoral fellow, she aims to further dissect the role of ciliary adhesions in the formation and function of motile cilia, using Xenopus laevis as a model system. At the same time, she works towards the development and optimization of a novel approach to target cancer progression and metastasis, using inhibitors that specifically block FAK function at focal adhesions.
